AI Policy,
IP Strategy &
Legal Operations

Precision governance is no longer optional. As artificial intelligence reshapes how legal work is created, managed, and scaled, legal leaders must move beyond ad hoc tools and reactive policies.

We help general counsel and legal teams design governance frameworks that align AI policy, intellectual property strategy, and legal operations into a coherent system, grounded in process discipline, risk awareness, and long-term value creation. The result is not faster adoption for its own sake, but durable, defensible, and well-governed use of intelligence across the legal function.

Through research, practical tools, and selective advisory engagements, we provide both the resources and the services legal leaders need to govern intelligence with confidence.

After 25 years leading a law firm, running a digital consulting company, investing in start-ups, and working with boards of directors, I stepped away from my operating roles. The pace had been intense, and after caring for my husband through cancer treatment while running my businesses, it was time to create some breathing room.

That pause became a pivot.

As artificial intelligence surged to the forefront of intellectual property and governance, I used the space to go deep without the constraints of client deadlines. I began writing about AI as a Forbes Business Council member and partnered with a long-time colleague, Nancy Cronin, to research and co-author Owning Intelligence: How AI is Reshaping Intellectual Property, Risk and Governance, slated for release in Q2 2026.

Over the past year, I have immersed myself in the field: studying foundational and cutting-edge books, digging into academic research and policy reports, completing Stanford Law School’s Executive Education program for lawyers in AI, and analyzing emerging AI-related patent filings. I’ve layered this research onto my experience designing innovation and patent programs and my work in patent analytics.

One conclusion is clear:

  • Everything that goes into AI can be an intellectual asset.

  • Everything it uses is IP.

  • Everything it produces could be IP.

We are at a critical inflection point. Legal departments, often late adopters of technology, cannot afford to sit this one out. This is the time to understand how AI fits into core processes, to define policies and guardrails, and to build the legal organization of the future around AI with intention.

That is why I am launching Governing Intelligence Research Group:
Precision governance for AI policy, IP strategy, and legal operations.

Governing Intelligence will focus on the convergence of three pillars that will define the legal department of the future:

  • AI policy and governance

  • Intellectual property and data strategy

  • Legal operations and process design

I am building a research-driven resource center, assembling a small team, a distinguished panel of advisors and contributors and developing practical implementation modules for select clients so this work is not just thought leadership, but a roadmap for action. This is just the beginning.
